148 ac the clue is prong(5) thesaurus .com gives this as SPIKE or SPINE both will fit so general consensus is required please.philcottie.

The query is the same for clue 149dn (prong) Spike or Spine

I would go with SPIKE, but both words answer the clue, so if the N or K don't affect any other answer, then it probably doesn't matter which one you choose.
