It seem there is more to the phrase "An Axe To Grind" than just this meaning.

Everyone sharpens their axe a certain way.
Some choose a pattern of behavior and then form the world around them to fit their lifestyle while some use the standards of so called "holy books" and choose these books to judge others.

Usually in most cases the actual truth suffers. What is the truth? It seems science has set a standard that religion cannot readily compete with.

Where do we set the point and draw all other dimensions from? It seems the point becomes subjective to ones's own will and/or that of a collective mob.

To just use the term and say, someone or so-and-so has an axe to grind seems lacking in some way. Rather the very use of the term denotes the user also has their own axe to grind. Tit for tat, the usage of this terms really needs something else to back up such a claim otherwise, it is just blathering.

Straw men and Trojan horses they all seem subjective to one's own view and the validity thereof.

How in all of this do we arrive at the heart of the matter?

The question becomes, why would one need to sharpen an axe if not given a good reason?

What really lies at the center of all human thought? Why are there taboos?

What is it about a tribal society that creates them? Why is a taboo perfectly okay in secret but not okay out in the open?

Shame and pride, who decides which is apropos?

At what point does our nakedness become a sin?

Please give your own definition and, got an axe to grind? Post it here... Smile

I am more interested in how much money these stores paid to bribe elected officials to sway the vote in their favor...

And who of the conservatives were on the uptake?
