Bruins' Bergeron leaves Game 5
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron left Saturday's Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Near the midway point of the second period, he took a short shift and appeared to be in discomfort. He stayed on the bench for the rest of the period, but only took one more brief shift.
When the Bruins came out for the start of the third period, Bergeron wasn't on the bench and the team later announced that he was taken to a local hospital for observation.
No word on the nature or extent of the injury has been announced.
"Well, no update, and I think there's no concern until you get an update," said Boston head coach Claude Julien after the game. "As far as we're concerned, he's just getting evaluated right now. Not much I can say on his situation."
Bergeron has nine goals and six assists over 21 games in the playoffs.
Boston dropped a 3-1 decision in the game to fall into a 3-2 hole in the series. Game 6 is set for Monday night in Boston.

One news show stated that Bergeron may have injured his spleen.
I hope this isn't the case.
