Real Italian Leather or Not?

Reply Fri 17 May, 2013 10:23 am
I ordered a sample of a "Renaissance Italian Leather Portfolio" - if you even google it you will see it come up in many promotional item places. When I received it, it smells like leather, looks like leather, but the underside of the leather is cloth-like (underneath the zipper areas). In the description it says it is leather, but it also says that it is "Italian STYLE leather" - so how can I tell if it is real leather or fake?

@ckinde23,
If it looks like leather, smells like leather, and is stamped "leather," it must be leather. "Italian style" doesn't necessarily mean it was made in Italy.

@cicerone imposter,
I'm sure it was really made by cows and stuff like that. Still, a fabric backing?

@roger,
Maybe even Italian leather goods use fabric in some parts of their products.
I never concerned myself about Italian leather.
