naval barrages are most likely broadsides (dates to the days of sailing ships, when all the cannons pointed out of the sides of ships).

ok, now it looks like we're going for cherubim.

when I was a kid we sang this Christmas carol about cherubim and seraphim (-im is the Hebrew plural marker), but i haven't heard anyone sing it in decades:
