How do I stop Express from downloading mail from inbox when I send a message?

Hello,

Is there a setting I can use to prevent Express from automatically downloading whatever is in my Inbox (on the server) whenever I compose and send an email? Just because I'm sending an email, that does not mean I want to get an influx of messages from the server. Send/receive will do both - what I want is a "send only" option.

I have Outlook Express 6, running on XP (not sure which version of XP - if it matters, I'll post again later with that info).
