Stuck on two.
254a: Illegal potato liquor. Have POT-EN. Google gives answer as Poitin. However, I need to keep the "t" and the "e" as they fit the answers for 221d & 222d respectively, "toast" and "helve" ('salute with drink', and 'pick handle').
318a: (by) means (of). Have D-NT.
I posted this question about 4 days ago and when I logged on a day later to see if it had been answered I found the whole question had completely vanished. Amazing.

If you had tried THE CROSSWORD SOLVER, both answers would have come up, as you have the correct letters
