Remove the Cleanout Tee on a Pellet Stove

Hello Friends,

As pellet stoves burn wood pellets and other organic materials, they emit soot and ash into the stove’s chimney. It is necessary to periodically clean out the chimney so that the stove will draw air properly, and to prevent chimney fires. The clean-out tee is designed to make this task easier.

Find the clean-out tee by following along the chimney from the back of the pellet stove to its exit point. The tee will be a downspout off the chimney with a cap on it. The cap will have a handle. Place a bucket under the clean-out tee to catch the ash that will spill from it once the cap is removed.

Thanks a lot!
