....but I have a vague picture of Dutchy in his
syrup and
whistled up, going for a
ruby with his
chinas !
@fresco,
All Double Dutch to me fresco. However after consulting my Cockney dictionary it makes sense.
@philcottie,
Daisy roots was mentioned in a Lonnie Donegan song from way back, it was called My Old Mans a Dustman, it was a very funny song.
@fresco,
The words you have used a cockny slang,are l think syrup WIG, whistle & flute SUIT, Ruby murray (an irish singer from the 50s and 60s) CURRY and l believe if memory serves that china means MATES, because of china plates.
@margsy,
I get the other ones, but how is ' syrup' 'wig'?
@cherrie,

Syrup of fig (a common laxative in the days when people worried about being 'regular')
@contrex,
Thanks for that, makes sense now.
@cherrie,
Good God what have I started now.philcottie
@philcottie,
Cockney slang is interesting, it's like a whole different language.
Thanks for starting it.
@cherrie,
try Googling up Cockney Slang Dictionary and you will find some very interesting reading.philcottie
@cherrie,
lt is syrup of figs, wig.Do you understand, syrup of figs is a medicine that assists mother nature to do her work. haha
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL.
@philcottie,
I had a look at that, once I started I had trouble stopping, one thing leads to another. Cockneys must have a rather lateral way of thinking to come up with some of them.
@margsy,
Thanks Margsy, yes I do understand now.
