Hi Guys,
I am planning to try out for the girls 8th grade soccer team this coming March. I am interested in getting ahead start in training. What would you recommend I do? Any special agility/circuit training? Or just certain soccer skills?
Thank You
Alexis Allen
@Alexis Allen,
Soccer is mainly running and kicking things, and the running looks more like middle distance running than anything else which comes to mind. I'd say find a football field and practice running back and forth between the goals kicking a soccer ball along with you until you don't get tired or overly winded doing that two or three times in a row.
@Alexis Allen,
The single best drill any soccer player can do is to find a wall and kick a soccer ball against the wall for hours and hours. This drill works on passing & shooting, and trapping. It also does not require anyone else to help with the training. Doing this single drill will drastically improve one's skills over a summer, if you do enough repetition.
@Ticomaya,
Also, in conjunction with kicking the ball against the wall, spend a considerable amount of time using the weak foot when kicking (meaning the left foot for most). The use of both feet is essential as one progresses in soccer.
