For the past few months, probably since Sept 12, I have been gathering quotes for getting some solar panels installed on the roof of my home. It was a very daunting task, with at least 8 contendors wanting me to buy from them. In all that time I could not find anyone who already had them installed willing to tell me what they thought of them.
FINALLY, now I have had 12 panels installed with a 3kW inverter, & the full cost was $5,000. Only time will tell how much I will have saved in electricity but I do so enjoy watching my electricity meter moving BACKWARDS, albeit slowy and not racing forwards at a breakneck speed.
Each quarter I am hit with an average ele bill of $700. Now I can't wait for my next ele bill to arrive so I can see if I have done the right thing or not. I would really like to get some 'feed back' from other people who have had solar panels installed and learn from them what they feel about them. My only 'concern' at the moment is that maybe I ought to have got more panels and a larger inverter, but some of the people I was in contact with told me that I didn't need anything bigger than what I finally chose. BTW, I'm in NSW Australia.

@drillersmum,
whats the total square feet of your panels.
Normally, in US a "Whole house" electricity need is about 8Kw

@farmerman,
I cannot answer in square feet, only in centimeters... or millimeters
1640 x 992 with a thickness of 40/50 mm.
I was advised that I didn't need anything bigger than a 3kW inverter.
Only time will tell if I was given accurate advice.
