I have a 20 year old traditional gas well on my farm. I was once told long ago it recovers gas from deep within the earth through little fissures . So, with all theses new fracking rigs drilling around me can my personal natural gas fizzle out as a result?
@Kylewa,
It is a possibility.
One of our experts on geology may wander in and give you a more expert opinion if he happens by.
@Kylewa,
it may interconnect but Id be more atuned to a fact that you may be picking up MORE gas from the lower producing shales
@farmerman,
Farmerman, do you mean that fracking may push more gas to my shallow well?
@Kylewa,
yep thats a possibility. Of course, they could also have the deeper well much more heavily grouted so you may not see any additional. But If you are pumping gas now you may be seeingincreases on your head pressures that would mean some additional gas is seeping in the formation.(The gas guys will deny this but it a fact) Do you have any pumping tests data from your well? You should have whats called a "production curve" based on using a manometer. Do you have your well on file ?
@farmerman,
I don't know about the pumping curve or manometer but I will be looking into this, so at least I'm not likely to Lose my gas from all the fracking. Thanks very much farmerman.
@farmerman,

Why would they frack a well and then heavily grout it? That seems to be counterproductive to the fracking done.
