@anng,
It might be TABLE LINEN.
Are you sure about the A?

@cherrie,
Hi Cherrie,
I have 'loafer' . The 'A' in loafer matches the 'A' in the answer I want.
What do you have for this answer please?
Known letters are: L---ER
I thought it might be loiter but that doesn't seem to fit as MOOCH means to beg etc.
Hope you can help
Ann

@anng,
I don't have the puzzle so i'm just going on what you've said, but mooch can also mean to hang around, which would give you loiter, which would then fit in with
linen, I think

@anng,
Hi anng
I have:
239a = TABLELINEN
222d = LUSTS
240d = BLOC
200d = ODDBALL
241d = ESP
227d = LOITER
232d = TEAMS

That should fill any gaps you have around 239a.

Good luck

@Dutchy,
Thanks everybody for your help.
As all of the dictionaries and sites I used said that mooch meant to beg, cadge, bum etc...so I wrote the question and put it into google:
What does mooch mean? This is the answer I got:
---------------------------------------------------------
mooch/moÍžoCH/
Verb: Ask for or obtain (something) without paying for it.
Noun: A beggar or scrounger.
Synonyms: loiter
----------------------------------------------------------
So, yes! It was loiter after all. It would be good if the dictionaries gave ALL the definitions.

Thanks again, Ann
