Rug padding like an area rug pad, it is made to protect the concrete floors. It is also designed to avoid slips from the rug. Buy rug pads in square, round, rectangle, runners, octagon and oversize rug pads.

We have hardwood floors and have a few rugs on them, you do need them on a pad to keep them from sliding. They sell them in most large stores, even homedepot.

Actually, most concrete floors are tougher than most rugs, unless they are making them out of Kevlar. Of all the uses for a pad, protecting the concrete slab is pretty much the bottom of the list.
