@dalehileman,
dale...

are you sure you should be operating power equipment...?

this seems like one of those questions that if you don't know how to get it tight, you might not be qualified to work on it.

please be careful and don't wear a tie.

and put your hair in a pony tail, for safety.

good luck...

@Rockhead,
i'll never forget something my old shop teacher ("Lefty" Calhoun) once said to our class

AAARRRRRGH, Oh My God, Somebody put those fingers on some ice for me and call an ambulance

@djjd62,
I loved shop class, too.

we had a teacher vs student fight.

it was a draw, and they were both suspended.

you can tell the shop teachers, they are always the ones missing a digit...

Yes, no, Rock, and especially with bandsaw

Sorry if I wasn't abundantly clear, but I was asking hows I know when it's too tight

Thanks for the suggestion but how does it relate to the tightness of the blade

@dalehileman,
Eg, an appropriate reply might be "In a length of 12 in. a force of 6 lb should deflect 1/4 in."

@dalehileman,
Eg, an appropriate reply might be to consult the literature that came with the machine, or contact the manufacturer.

you are the one that started an internet thread instead.

you know what I really want to know?

Why can't we have instant scrolling...

Indeed not funny at all. A couple of weeks ago when its power switch quit working (wouldn't turn off, as if shorted) too lazy to replace it I installed an external switch remotely, in the form of a small power strip

But then recently the former switch mysteriously recovered, ok ever since. So having come to depend on the latter you can see how I might as you suggest inadvertently cut off a finger
