hi

does anyone of you know how to find fellow entrepreneurs or business partners - i have tried "partnerUp.com" but with little success. It is a dot com and needs no initial investment, though it needs to be pitched to VC's.

Should I try to contact local small business development centers? or the biz school of nearby colleges ?

Has anyone here had such a problem (lack of capable and interested fellow entrepreneurs ) and if so how did you solve it?

@brahmin,
Hello Friends,

I asked this question of myself for quite a while, and I eventually came to the conclusion that, in some ways, while I had valid reasons for searching for a venture partner, it was also a subconscious excuse for limited progress. This may or may not be the case for you, I am unsure. That said, both the projects (yes, I know, two, bad! But it's not ) I'm working on now are partnerships - but both are with people I've known for a long long time, so I didn't really need to search too much. That said, this forum for a start is a potential source - most people here are probably like-minded in terms of their desires and ultimate destination (well, those who aren't there yet anyway hehe) and other than that I'd suggest looking for startup and entrepreneur meet up type events in your area.

Best Regards,
Romen Esko

@brahmin,
Hello Community,

Finding a partner is all about networking. Whether online or off, the tactics are the same. Find someone who shares your dream and that you have chemistry with, and who's skillets and abilities compliment instead of mirroring your own. Now before I go into finding the right business partner, I want to break down some reasons on why you should have a business partner:

1. Man power - hiring employees is a great way to get more things done, but when your business isn't making much money it can be hard to afford talented people. If you have a business partner you can get a lot more work done without worrying about paying a high priced employee.
2. Divide and conquer - it's hard to do everything. One of the best things about having a business partner is that you guys can split up tasks and not worry about every aspect of your business. Plus you will be able to specialize on certain tasks, which will make you more efficient.
3. Motivate - as an entrepreneur you will experience a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes things will be going great and other times they won't. By having a partner you can motivate each other to stay on top of things.
4. Ideas aren't a dime a dozen - when you think of something cool and want to bounce it off of someone, what better person to do so with then your business partner? And if you can't come up with any ideas, you can always ask your partner to help you brainstorm.
5. Network, network, and network - you can never have a big enough network. If you have a business partner not only can you tap into your network, but also you can reach into his or hers.

Best Regards,
