Evaporative air cooler

Hello. Would an evaporative air cooler be a good idea for an environment that has a large LCD TV, 2 surround sound systems, a ps3, and other electronics? Would the moisture in the air destroy the devices?

@jceccoli,
Depends on where you live. I live in Albuquerque where the air is extremely arid. Evaporative coolers work great except during our monsoon season in July when the humidity increases from single digits to well above 30 percent.

The coolers don't work well when the humidity is high.

We have a couple of large flat screen TVs and a stereo system and it hasn't seemed to bother them at all.

Best thing to do would be to ask at some electronic stores in your local area where they are more familiar with your local climate.

@jceccoli,
There are places with very high indoor Relative Humidities (e.g. Hawaii, where air conditioning tends to amount to a ceiling fan) and this doesn't affect electronic devices adversely. Around here where evaporative coolers are the norm, the indoor RH can get up to around 60%, and electronic devices continue to work just fine.
