What's the cross?

the only cross is ALABAMA so the only letters in question is the H in SHAM and the C In SCAM.Entering Fraud in Thesaurus .com comes up with Scam with no mention of Sham so don't know whether any other sites defines this more clearlyI expect both words will be accepted but am just curious.philcottie

gday philcottie, my crossword dictionary has sham as being fraud but scam doesn't appear at all, I think both answers would be accepted but I would probably go with sham, but I have just looked in the oxford dictionary and it says scam is fraud so again I think you could use both
