I want to buy a decent telescope, nothing too advanced but something pretty powerful. $400 would be my absolute top end to spend.
I don't need a tripod, as I have several very good tripods, with great heads, but I would need the scope to be mountable on my own tripod.
Any advice?

We are all interested. Mr. B was once an intermediate hobbyist and I follow the sky news and Mo is interested in general. During the last super moon we were all wishing we had a decent telescope.
I've done a little research but I thought people might have specific brands or types that they've really liked.
