This is my first time at doing a cryptic. Holy cow! Been working on it since 3 May and I thought the Stinker was hard. With a lot of lateral thinking and logic I have got down to 5 to go and just can't go further.

17a: Bird spotted by fleet. Have S-I-- (thought about snipe, stilt and swift) but can't get 18d either.
25a: Attempts to hit ball for pets. Have ---O-E-.
14d: To turn traitor shows weakness. Have -E-E--.
18d: Was not terribly seaworthy, in principle. Have --E-R-.
59d: Rush includes scene to be critiqued. Have -E---O-D.

Thanks in advance for all help. It will be much appreciated.

I think 18d is THEORY, with apologies to Strauss for wherry, which is indeed a sea vessel. Keep going they get easier after doing a hundred or so Smile

Thanks James. Also, for 72a (Be certain of facts in a week? No way!) I have 'info' but felt it wasn't quite right, so would it be 'anew' which would fit in with 59d 'reviewed'.
A hundred or so, you say, to get the hang of it? Well that's not too bad. Only 99 to go......
