Any Steampunk Fans?

Never heard of steampunk music before. I know of steampunk anime and steampunk literature but what makes steampunk genre into music? What kind of retrofuturistic instruments do they use and are they actually more then cosmeticly altered instruments and period costumes?

there's some good stufff out there. there's a whole steampunk belly dance sub-genre, Abney Park is popular with them.

Nothing real new musically, you can listen to some music from the early 1900's and think it is steampunk. Which I guess is part of the appeal.

Costuming is big, but not a lot of purists which is somewhat disappointing. People mix everything from about 1850 to 1920 and think it works together. It doesn't. Just looks mish-mashy.
