Do you want to build an actual, programmable, robot, or are you wanting a toy that looks like a robot?

I've seen lots of projects done with the Lego Mindstorms NXT. It's basically an off-the-shelf set of components that can be used to build robots.

You need to take classes in this. It's not just something that can be explained over the 'net. Try a school where Robotics Engineering is taught. Worcester Polytechic Institute has such a curriculum. Google a bit and you'll find others.

COMPONENTS REQUIRED:
1. Chassis.
2. Remote Control Kit
3. Batteries.
4. Motors.
5. Wheels.
Connect them according to your need use your talent to go onwards. good luck.
