I had a very disconcerting experience recently. I was filling out the paper work for a Certificate of Deposit online at a bank that I had never used before. They asked me a number of security questions. The format was to ask the question, and have me pick out the correct answer from five choices.
They asked me about the last place that I had worked. I looked at the five answers, and sure enough, in the middle of the list, was the place where I worked eighteen years ago.
I was floored. Then it got me to wondering just how much personal information is "out there". I know that medical offices make a big stink about privacy, but just how private is our personal information?
What do you think? Have you had any experiences that made you realize that to a great extent. your life is an open book?
