considering at least half of those who like helping you solve these puzzles are Yanks who don't ever see the actual puzzle but just like word puzzles, the only way we can do it is if you give us the letters you have and the spaces you don't have letters for, like ??e?m? or whatever. Given that, one of your answers is Turn of the Screw. We generally spell embankement as dike (dyke is usually a somewhat pejorative term for a lesbian over here), don't know if that works either. A glacial ridge is an esker--it's probably something else too, if that doesn't fit.

high backed bench is a settle. It looks like they're going for that crossword favorite arete, which is just a sharp mountain ridge, rather than a glacial ridge, which is an esker. blanched is probably paled. It's definitely Turn of the Screw, you've got a wrong letter in there. carriage attendant is outrider. 251d prosody. 61a could be sub rosa, if the sub is in the clue itself. library enclosure is a carrel. Jane Austen is Emma. (See? You can tell we're not Ozian because we don't spell it "favourite")

@shirlz,
Thanks shirlz, Montereyjack had contributed too. Got stuck because the dictionary I found karabiner in had it with a c instead of k , knew dyke had to be right because my husband is from Holland.
