Stuck on 45 a, 9 letters, Access to pit is not yours, Ray? I have m?n???a?t. Also on 9 d, 6 letters, p?d??e, and 17a, 5 letters, ??e?s. My brain is tired - grateful for any help!

What are the clues for 9 down and 17 across? A lot of us like helping with these, but we don't get the puzzles. Thanks!

Sorry Jespah, my brain really is tired this evening! 9d is Hawk held departures up a little, 6 letters, p?d??e, and 17a is Looks horribly like learners ran off, 5 letters, l?e?s. One more I'm not sure of is 38a, 3 letters, I turn company around for sports corporation - I have IBC but not sure if it's right!
