@jespah,
Thanks Jespah, senates and enchant are great and I can understand how you got them, but I'm still stuck on 42 down, 'These used to close account for coaches' - I now have letters t??c?es. Also, I can't quite understand how you get Cairo?
@vonny,
maybe TEACHES? im not sure, cant explain yet how i got that. maybe someone else might know. Just saw T??C?ES and thought teachers are coaches! Lol sorry if its wrong
@KWaru,
Thanks KWaru - your answer beats anything I can come up with!
@vonny,
I thought it was TORCHES ...T from account OR from for and ches from coaches.
Teaches is a verb and the clue refers to "these"
@vonny,
any idea on 72a ... At sea, assist to catch five hundred cruel people.
--d-s-s ....medusas?
@mixxy,
Ill go with your answer! im still a newbie at cryptics!
@mixxy,
I suggest SADISTS for 72a
@vonny,
42d is TEACHES, which is an anagram of these and ac, which is short for account. I have no idea how Cairo can be made out of the clue but it fits in so it has to be right. 51a is ENCHANT and you must have put the P in the wrong place for 24d which is SIDESTEPPED.
72a is SADISTS
