This is the Last Day of the First Half of Winter

Tomorrow, whether or not the groundhog sees his shadow, we're halfway through the winter and the 84th darkest days of the year have passed.

I intend to cut forsythia and pussy willow to force inside. I'll probably concoct something a little sweet to remind me of spring time and I'll definitely fill the bird feeders--another storm is coming.

As the days grow longer, winter grows stronger.

What will you do?

I tend to do lots of cooking and crafts to pass the time inside in the winter.

I love pussy willow. Would you mind picking some for me while you're at it?

I can't wait until spring :-)

Montana--

I'd be glad to pick you some, but Canada doesn't accept just-any-old vegetation from south of the border. I'll dedicate a branch to you and to new beginnings.

Hold your dominion.

Happy birthday elder seal pup! Enjoy the new hat! :-D

I think we'll celebrate by breaking out some of the barbecue we froze last summer.

Janet Jackson's boob saw it's shadow so there will be three more months of winter for the northern gang.

Seasons in the boundless cosmos? Of course.

Check out Ecclesiates and then turn-turn-turn to "Vanity, Vanity, all is Vanity."

I've clipped my forsythia, but the pussy willow is behind a rampart of snow left by the plow. (Sorry, Montana--I've dedicated the third largest trunk of the "bush" to you, but it stays outside).

Now the snow is snowing and the sleet is sleeting and the rain is knifing down. Punxsutawney Phil was booed at Gobbler's Knob and we're in for six more weeks of winter.

This is the second day of the second half of winter....
