I graduated in 77!
Looking at the videos, I'll admit they don't hold up as well as, let's say, monty python.
However, for the time, it was radical.
I never saw them together, which I regret. I did see Cheech on television. He played the air drums for a while, and I have to admit it was pretty funny.

I think we were easily entertained at the time
Some of the lines are still pretty great though.
I like the line in "Things are Tough All Over," in which they play double roles as their usual characters, and also two Arab brothers, in which one of the Arab brothers says, "Hey, Things are Tough Every Over," not quite getting the phrase right.

Freak brothers were a comic strip by Gilbert Shelton. They were definitely American, I don't know about Mr Shelton though.
