So you were a coward who couldn't face the prospect of combat--and now you make snotty remarks to Failures about it. That's evidence, if any more were needed, just what a self-righteous phony you are. And the drill sergeants weren't doing their job. At no time in my service did i encounter a situation in which i, or anyone else, needed to be able to hold a loaded M14 over the head for 30 minutes. The drill sergeants were sadistic assholes, and you're an idiot.
Coward? I took my older brother's advice from his time in the Army during Korea. But, I better served in another branch, since I did want to be with what I considered a better class of young men. A more homogeneous group, I believed, from mostly middle class backgrounds. Many were college dropouts that also did not care for being drafted. Oh, yes, and fairly WASPy. A good sociological expedition also. And, yes, I did not have any desire to shoot at Vietnamese people, since they were not a threat to our way of life, I believed.
Are you defining all non-Army enlistees as "cowards"? That would be silly, since today, to protect the U.S. we need the other branches of the service. But, why would you comment on my cowardice? As a timid Jew, I thought you would not question my cowardice? Are you ignoring my stereotype? I would never ignore your stereotype. For shame.
While you refer to me as a coward for avoiding the Army, how do you feel about all the college students with their 2-S deferments? I guess you have a very rigid concept of what makes for a good citizen. And now you are not even CONUS? Too much cognitive dissonance in relating to you.
