How Delia may describe the Spanish country? (5)

I know it looks like India but I wonder what the Spanish is in the clue for?

I'm not a Spanish speaker but I think the Spanish word for "the" is "el". In cryptic terms, "Delia" could be written as "el"
in "dia".
May be wrong though!

I must be right. I don't know the Spanish language except for 'el' which is usually used cryptics as part of El Cid.
