If you could choose either "do" or "have", what would it be?
I don't understand the question.
Possessions are transitory, but memories are lasting.
Although diamonds are forever, and some folks get forgetful.
And, a rich man cannot enter the kingdom of God.
But, the Good Samaritan had to be wealthy to be benevolent.
So, who knows. I'd like to HAVE a selective memory so as to remember things I'd DONE worth remembering.
As I get older, I'm learning to DO, wishing I'd DONE more, and am realizing the emptiness of just HAVING. Teach your daughters there's more to life than the mall!
Have. It means I've done it already.
Heh heh! PDiddie, ".....do do that voodoo that you do so well...."
I declare, individual, if you don't come up with some weird threads. Is this supposed to be answerable? I liked McTag's response about the good samaritan, however.
doing
done
doing it again
Do, much more important. Actions speak louder than...erm possessions. You can't take stuff with you when you die now can you! Having is fun though as it helps to remind you of the things that you've done.
I was all for "do" rather than "have". But its kinda gone. Perhaps its cause I'm sad, and I've come to appreciate all the little things I can have around me, that are, like, comforting. A clock, a lamp, a record and a blanket, and it all means something to me. Ask again when I'm better - for now I'd rather "do" nothing and stay inside with a few things.

Ah, nimh. Hit a slump? Then do this. Create a piece of beauty and put it in the original writing thread. You would be amazed at the catharsis.
"...a poet could not but be gay in such jocund company...."
See? McTag just made us both smile....Love it!
Do.. what we do changes the world what we have just changes ourself
in my opinoin, anyway
nimh - sometimes we need comfort, surrounded by things. Making ourselves comfortable, that's a necessary 'do' somedays.
<tucking in a comforter around nimh's knees - bringing him a big hot mug of chai (with a shot of cognac) - letting him be with his books and music>
This whole question was started by an odd dream that I had in which a voice kept repeating in my head, "Do you have or have you done?" Any ideas on what that might mean?
The only thing that I could figure out that you could both do and have were drugs. Doesn't make sense when you put it in the context of my life though...
individual, Now the thread has taken a reverie turn. Had you explained this in the beginning, the responses would have been quite different, I feel.
If you've done it, flaunt it
If you have it, flaunt it
If you've not done it & you don't have it, then get up off your butt & get it sorted. It's never to late & dogs can learn new tricks
DO someone or HAVE sex? Hmm. There's a toughie. Aren't they the same?
J/k. I agree w/ Inherent Vice. Have. Have Have Have. Besides, if you HAVE alot of money, then you can DO alot of things, but it doesn't work the other way around.
