The story begins when the US Army marched into Houston and defeated the confederate army stationed here. The confederates wanted to deprive the US Army of rebel munitions and their best and brightest idea was to toss it all into Buffalo bayou."

wow, They can entomb it further. I wouldnt do any "mine detection" tricks since all geophysics sends energy into the ground at various frequencies and just the right frequency can set off an old Diazo fuse or merc fulminate fuze, and then BAWOOM.(if theres any stuff left)
