I need help with 6d Timid people and a cadet cry out on board (7-4) -c--e-y -a-s. and 56a A church? That's awesome a-e. As I am new to the Cryptic Crossword could you please explain how you got your answers. For 56 I am thinking it could be awe but cannot see where it comes from.
Many thanks

@dean50,
Don't yet have this magazine,but am confident with answer to 6d.

Timid people and A CADET CRY out on board.
On board is represented by SS.
An anagram of A CADET CRY + SS is SCAREDY CATS.

Good Luck

@PaddyH,
Thank-you so much Dutchy and Paddy. You make it look so simple. May-be I will get the hang of them one day.
