This thing slows down sometimes and I wonder if I had a list of what was running I could shut some of them down. I sorta remember something about SYS____ something. Eh?

@Joe Nation,
If you're on Windows, hit ctrl-alt-delete and then select Task Manager. You can also get to it by right-clicking on the task bar and select Task Manager.
@Joe Nation,
If you are running a version of Windows, run the taskmanager. You can get there by typing CTRL-ALT-DELETE and selecting the taskmanager option. The PROCESS tab shows what is running.
@Joe Nation,
If you're looking to find out what starts up automatically, you should run msconfig and click on the Startup tab.
@DrewDad,
That's what I was looking for. Thanks, Drewdad.

@Joe Nation,
If you happen to use CCleaner on your computer to rid it of malware in the registry and spammy cookies, it also has a utility for viewing what programs are loaded at startup. It is located under the Tools icon.
@Butrflynet,
I use Spybot. I'll check for a similar utility. What I'm doing now is finding what's loading automatically and seeing if there is a way of telling it not to.
