DARE,BOUNCE, just to name some, are these cuddly soft programs designed to teach kids to do the right thing. Are you kidding me? These programs are funded because they are soft and cuddly and do not expose kids to the actual dangers of life. And they all say the same thing, Say "NO!" to peers. Peer pressure defines kid's lives. It is the force that controls any and all behaviors even when it is not there. These programs try to fight it, but they are not willing to take out the big guns that might hurt a few kids, but will help in the long run. They face a problem, kids know that drugs and alchohol make you feel good. So they take the elementary approach of telling kids the effects of drugs and alchohol but don't show the pychological. And also, since it is coming from adults kids disregard it even more. The other approach is to face the reality of it and show them the bad side and how those people turn out. So, which approach is best, or is the another, better one?
