52d Tended (to) - MINISTERED. I don't know what 84a is but the clue is past tense so the answer should be, so ending in 'ed' not 'id'.

161d Mythical Scottish seal/person - SELKIE (for 167a I have DOWSE)
179d Dumb waiters - LIFTS
I'm not completely sure of my 141d The South of France but I've got MEDI - at least for now. With the D and I intersecting with DISTEND and AIRY.
I'm really stuck on 178a, though. Have C_I_O_K
