@Ceili,
When we were parking the car in the parking lot across the road from the beach, there was an Asian family unpacking all their beach gear from their car, along with their two young children. We asked them if this was the clothing optional beach, but they didn't seem to understand us - we just figured maybe they didn't speak English.
They were walking to the beach in front of my sister and I and I remarked to her that I thought it might be a little confusing or upsetting for these small children to be confronted with so many nude strangers of all shapes and sizes, but sort of shrugged my shoulders and thought, 'Well - maybe these particular kids are used to this sort of thing...' and we continued to trudge through the sand until finally we got to the point where there was a sign that said, 'Clothing optional beyond this point'.
The only reason we knew where this clothing optional beach was was because my brother-in-law, who is a surveyor and was mapping out a park in the area told us about it - he and his work partners entertained themselves by looking through the scope at all the bodies --you'd not have known it was back there otherwise...it was about a half mile from the parking lot.
Well, just beyond the sign there were all these naked people playing frisbee and volleyball and the mother threw a towel over her kids' heads, turned them around and almost started running back in the other direction. The husband was mesmerized, stuck to the spot staring, and as my sister and I walked by her, this mother gave us the most disgusted look.
It was pretty funny. I think the father wished he could have stayed.
