I looked at these US based castles and some being monstrosities, all of them were awkward and quite ugly. They seem to lack the overall grandeur and mystique of the typical European castle. Perhaps its their lack of architectural patina but to me it seems they were designed with a Frankenstein attitude of mixing the castle design with modern sensibilities where in these cases failed in all attempts.

Do you live by any castles (old or modern)? What do you think of them? Have the older ones been kept up (maintenance wise)?

ugly, yeppers, the adobe in new mexico not so bad.

I like adobe clay style houses. It's when they tried to add the castlelic flair when that design went sour in my mind.

Adobe? For a castle?! That's just wrong.

So is the tire swing in front of the first one.

These are truly awful.
