NCIS the mystery of the boat

Ok so I've watched every episode of NCIS at least twice (who doesn't love Abby) the thing is if you've listen to the subtle dialogue you know that Gibbs is building a fairly large boat in his basement. on a couple of episodes there has been a comment about "what happened to the boat you were building last time? this question is never answered. a collection of those quotes leads one to believe he is now building his 3rd boat. How did he get the first ones out of his basement? One episode showed an empty basement with no boat in it.

@ossobuco,
Naval Criminal Investigative Services. Imaginary. A spin off from the JAG series.

"One episode showed an empty basement with no boat in it. "

or with an invisible stealth boat in it...

@Rockhead,
It may be that stealth boats can be beamed up to the front yard for hook up to a trailer down to the dock of the bay.

Letting your mind drift away...

@dyslexia,
and the fact that they were wooden gave me a similar start. I assume that there was a large enough gangway and closet door on one side of his basement and he skidded the suckers out. The dirty secret was how he flipped the boat over from laying out its ribs and then flipping it over to do the clinkering.

I have no idea why he kept building what looked like cpe dories

@dyslexia,
I think that "building a boat in the basement" is a euphemism.

If a Naval officer builds a boat,
I guess that 's no mystery (as distinct from an Army officer).
I wish I looked half as good as Mark Harmon; even 10%

one of my favourite benny hill sketches features benny working on a wood work project of some sort in his basement, from upstairs comes the endless drone of his wife talking about subjects he's obviously not interested in, after a few minutes of this she starts in with
"are you listening to me?"
"you never listen to me"
"you just spend hours down there working on your stupid project"
"what is it you're building, a boat?"
"i wouldn't be caught dead i any boat you'd build"

after this comment the scene opens up to show benny building a coffin, he turns to the camera and gives his patented benny hill smile
