85a = enchants
144a = anzac
186a = divined
196a = bede
223a = unbridled

Sorry but l think 223a unbridled is incorrect, as 225d is SSGREAT BRITAIN,so sixth letter in answer should be B, l am still researching it as so many other answers join with it,third letter l think is I,as answer to 185d l think is SVENGALI,hope we can reach the correct answer between us all, lol :->

223a l have come up with UNIMPEDED, so that means there is something not right about 225d,as the answer starts with an E if the above word is correct,so l will keep on digging (this is a stinker,b ut we still have plenty of time)good luck :->

Hi I think 196a is DAME as this fits in with the other answers

googled and this what I got
"Dame" is the traditional title for a Benedictine nun and comes from the Latin "Domna". It is the equivalent of the monk's "Dom".
