Thanks Wandel, I just called the paper and thanked them for featuring my photo and comments. I told them it was the nicest thing that has ever happened to me and how happy (no, not just happy, thrilled!) I was to be associated with so many nation flags.

I almost left to go to the gym an hour earlier yesterday but my mp3 player, which I forgot, was not charged so I walked back to my apartment and charged my mp3 player and had I not done so I would have missed the photographer. It is just a case of being in the right place at the right time. This is just what I needed today to lift me out of a self imposed slump.

That's pretty cool Rex. It is fun to see real faces to people you only know virtually.

The online pic kinda squashes me but on the news paper I am more slender looking, no biggie, I am just thankful to be associated with such a great event.

The man who took my photo was very nice too. I think he sensed my awe of the flags perhaps he felt the same awe too. I didn't see him at first while I was getting the impulse to want to hug all of them. I resisted the impulse and looked up and there he was with the camera. The wind was blowing a warm breeze and the flags were so very colorful. I was choked up walking by them and there was a tear in my eye behind my sunglasses. I was just so overwhelmed to see such a show of unity.

I wish I had thought to hold in my belly I was caught off guard.

I had my picture on the front page of a newspaper once. 1964.
I was the guy that looked like a total geek. Or was it nerd?
Whatever we were called back then, that was me.

did you ever have your picture on a milk carton? My kids did it to me when I was on a foreign assignemnt for several months. When I got home and after the hugging was worn out, I came down to breakfast next morning and there was this milk carton with my mug on it as if I was kidnapped. The words were touching and I still have that milk carton in my office.

Farmerman I have been in Portland for over 15 years. Portland Maine is the 20th largest metro in the country. I'm not good in small towns, not enough going on, rolled up sidewalks and spending a week there one day.
