I know this isn't a Lovatts crossword but you're usually so quick on the ball with the answers, so I'm asking your help.

The clue is:
Artist Jack leaves dog without water - boys return with some, finally.
pattern is:
RUSSELL ?R?S?C?E

The first word comes from the dog and the answer looks like an artist, but I've googled it but nothing like this comes up.
Hoping you can help me.
