What's liberal about statism?

Yes, because the subject matter of the conservation, most of the time, is the US Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land.
Conservatives honestly cling to it, whereas liberals turn away from it, in varying degrees.

However, both conservative and liberal are relative words
and can relate to ANY concept, not only matters of law or political power.

The Founders were REVOLUTIONARIES, against authoritarianism;
i.e., the American Revolution was a libertarian revolution, led by the Sons of Liberty.

Their brain-child was the US Constitution, an Instrument of Liberty,
by crippling government 's domestic power 37 ways, in the Bill of Rights alone.

Therefore, liberals, by turning AWAY from that,
thay embrace authoritarianism -- statism.

Have you guys noticed that you are posting on an old thread? RagingConservative posted this in 2008... and then apparently disappeared, he hasn't been heard from since.

Rather sad really... I loved the guy.

I think that is why he left. No one hated him after only 12 posts. He just couldn't stand all the love.
