I am one of the minority of conservative republicans in this overwhelming hot bed of lilberalism and socialism. However, I continue to fight on trying to convert the impossibly un-convertable, one lost pinko at a time.

@socalgolfguy,
Wait... you're a conservative and you live in California??? Weren't Californian conservatives extinct since around 4000 B.C? If not, surely the remnant was wiped out in the 60's???

Welcome.

@socalgolfguy,
Governor Arnie is the best we can muster up in California. Although he holds strong centrist views, in his heart he still believes in the work-reward scenario and personal accountability - much to the chagrin of my liberal counterparts.

@socalgolfguy,
Well, at least your state's nice. California would probably be my favorite state if it weren't for the liberalism and the illegal immigrants.

I jest, I actually REALLY loved Cali when I was there for a few months, even in Berkely, really nice place, I hate LA though, I know a homeless guy that got mugged for his bag of dirty clothes, how pathetic is that?

@socalgolfguy,
My daughter and son both work in Berkeley ("Berzerkeley", as it's known there) for the University of California. One day last fall while visiting them, there was a campus protest by foreign students over the increase in fees - later that day, my daughter's house was burglarized by 2 men, identified later as foreign nationals enrolled at the university.

LOL I see where your interests lie...Some folk do wear clothes down here too!:p

Regarding politics in southern California - I still have no idea how I will vote and I have only one year to sort myself out before I commit.

I do know the local broadcasters/press are very biased, so I have to cruise the internet to find a broader spectrum of information. Certainly not from academia or media.

I wonder where people get lessons in politics?

Guess I'll just have to go with my gut reactions.

I got mine from being subject to a family that is 99.9 democrat. They didn't care to explain anything just demean and that's to there own family. Growing up, one thing i did know was what i wasn't gonna be! One example fairly recent was for this last election. Before the elction my uncle told my mother that if she didn't vote for Kerry he would lose his job at the labs in Los Alamos. Every time i see him for family get togethers i ask him how the job hunting goes or some wise crack. He don't say a friging word so his silence is golden to my mother.

You escaped the family malady did ya???

Ha - where I live there is a nucleus of Republican folk but the papers and the schools are all liberal biased - so I am getting a mixed message.

Doesn't help to watch television or listen to radio.

I have some ideas going but it's gonna be down to the wire for me.

The months leading to an election is like a Mad Hatter's Convention...but way so exciting.... and while I think I would be smart to cast an absentee ballot while my head is on straight.... I would love my first vote to take it all in...up front.... doing the hanging chad thing (kidding).... punching the wrong buttons ... getting the volunteers all exercised at me..... holding an election machine hostage.... hehehe

So many choices.... a not a tingle as yet in my message center.

Thanks for noticing - no it's not me sadly - but I like the look of a contemplative woman for the image I wished to project - contemplative not being one of my strengths. lol

A reasonable question, to be sure. Still, we applaud your exception political visions.

A question: How does a neophyte separate the wishful thinking (BS) from the reality to get something done or changed.

The immigration bill is of interest to me of course, having been through the grinder.

Personally I have met no other person who should be exempt who fully intends to commit to the U.S. as a citizen.

Either you do it the right way -or forget it. Those who mock the established system have no respect for the nation.

There is no alternative. There should never be one.

@socalgolfguy,
Skye - check out the "Social Issues" section of this forum for threads on immigration. The senate just killed the bill yesterday, thank heavens. Keep reading and posting.
