Just curious as to how the people on this forum came up with the nicknames that they're using here... ?

My nickname "IDEAL Singh" is to remind me of people who always inspire me and who became ideal for their deeds in their lifetimes... its kind of Being and Becoming stuff... Very Happy

What about you fellas?

Setanta means "pathfinder," i was trying to think of a name to use at AFUZZ, and was lost for an answer, so it occurred to me as a nicely ironic moniker . . .

I'm a scientist who enjoys "Pinky and the Brain" (two cartoon lab mice trying to take over the world). I'm not cute enough to be a mouse, though, so I settled for "lab rat".

Norville Wesley Cargile III Sherman. Who can handle that? For years, and before me, nicknames have tended to be normal for my family. Over the years I've used many, some of which were used for relatively short times and for specific purposes. My wife calls me Wes, and only the very closest family ever calls me Norvill, or some varient of it. The children generally call me Da, or Uncas. Other nicknames used by the world have come and gone. Some just sorta happened, but the one that has tended to stick longest was "Al".

My features tend to the round, my eyes are said to gleam on occuasion with wicked innocence, and my weird take on the world reminded my old school chums of Alfred E. Neuman, hence "Al".

Over ten years ago the computer nazis of the city I worked for dictated that my Email address would forever after be Asherman. That followed their protocol of using the first initial and the surname as Addresses. They didn't realize that "Al" was just a nickname. My presence in the city was a bit shadowy in the years following. My office was often moved, usually to out-of-the-way locations. New employees were hired, and the first thing I knew I was being introduced in meetings as Asherman. Those who knew me when I was more accessable to the world still called me Al, but "Asherman" was a name to scare mid-level executives into doing a better job.

Now I'm retired, but Asherman is the name under which I paint, and write. My computer server had already used Asherman, so I ended up with Asherman34. There's the tale.

Oh my God! We are in the midst of greatness! It is Kermit the Frog and Vern the Toad.

I am honored.

My name, by the way, is simply a shortened version of my real name.
