I had a few errands to run. I pushed the elevator button. I waited. It arrived, and I entered. The special protective pads that are hung in the elevator when someone moves in or out were in place. And on one of these pads there was a handwritten sign that said, "Glass Behind. Be Careful." Yes, there's a mirror on one of the walls of the elevator. Yes, I knew what the intention of the sign was. But that didn't stop me from laughing from the eighth floor to the first floor. And again now.
I've often seen silly signs on various sites or tv shows. This was the first I had seen in person. And I keep thinking that if you've got a glass behind, you'd damned well better be careful.
Has anyone else had a close encounter with a silly sign?
what's on the road, a head?
There used to be (may still be) signs on the fost-heaved roads of New Hampshire that simply said 'hump'. I liked those.
Soft Shoulder - did I imagine that I saw those signs?
Those~~~~~~~ Slippery when wet signs!
LOL! We have many "hump" signs - since speed humps get used as traffic "calmers".
I like the little country road signs that just have a little animal silhouette - meaning lots of that species haunt the roads thereabouts - like wombats, and tasmanian devils, or just 'roos.
I have a bunch of railroad placards that were attached to box cars with more fragile loads. The signs said "do not hump"
There used to be a sign at the elevators of London tube stations: "Dogs must be carried at all times".
Since it is (was) obligatory for foreign dogs to stay 6 months in quarantine, I didn't have mine with me. So I officially only could use busses.
Interesting thoughts about this, from "VERMEER HOUSE RULES - (28) (Added 2/9/93)":
Quote:
[...]Dogs must be carried or leashed at all times in the elevators. Shareholders transporting dogs in the passenger elevators should take particular care that elderly or infirm persons are not disturbed by their animals.
Okay, there they still have to use dogs. Additionally, they seem to be very anxious about elderly and infirm persons, since the others obviuosly have to take care of dogs of the latter in the elevator as well.
I once read somewhere that there was a person who thought that the "Don't Walk" signs on street corners were ads for buses!
"The Rules of Fire Prevention in the Room
Prohibited explosion and fire hazerd activity in the room...."
From a Hungarian hotel room.
From Frank's Grocery up the hill;
Chocolate cookies $3 pound
Sugar cookies $3 pound
Fruit cookies $3 pound
Ass cookies $3.50 pound
I asked Frank if he was having any trouble finding good ass. He didn't get it.

Would be interesting, if the sign says the same in Hungarian.
Then there's End Landscaping, a particular obnoxious road sign to me.......
My canteen has a sign
"The canteen will be open permanentaly for breakfast until 10:00 AM"
Huh ?
I have a hair dryer that says "Do not use while sleeping." Hmm....
Thanks, guys. You made me laugh. Me and my glass behind. :-D
