@George,
Stop blaming victims. Many of the people who bought at the top of the market did so because Americans are supposed to own homes and it looked like the market would never stop.

If we had stuck to the old system of local banks financing local homes, some of the problem would never have reached the heights it did.

Other factors, like the size of the Baby Boom and the number of divorces didn't help.
