@sozobe,
(so I snuck in here - added my own booting tag - went to forums - did forum search - typed in booting - and here I am again - in the booting forum )

@ehBeth,
Yeah, not what I expected.

Let's boot "test" again so the experiment works for Theaetetus...

@sozobe,
I took test out just before my last post.

@ehBeth,
It was still there for me, I just took my "test" out and then it was gone. But wait there should be at least one "test" tag or else that negates the experiment too (of course it wouldn't be in the "test" forum if it's not tagged "test,") I'll put mine back and hope it's outnumbered/ won't go back in the top five.

@sozobe,
Gah, it's back. Can you tag "Pay No Attention" and "more tags" to try to boot it?

@sozobe,
Why don't you guys ask me whatever you are trying to figure out instead? Easier, faster and less clutter (edit: testing is fine as well, I'm just saying that I probably know what you are trying to figure out).

@Robert Gentel,
This came out of the Philforum Focus Group thread.

Theaetetus had said that topics that had been tagged with "Philosophy" were disappearing from the Philosophy forum; that a given topic would only appear in the forum if the "philosophy" tag were one of the top five tags (the ones that appear to everyone under the topic title). That it didn't matter if it had been tagged "philosophy" at some point if "philosophy" was not currently one of the top five tags. That seemed unlikely to me.

I created this topic to test that idea and found that in fact Theaetetus was correct. (You weren't around at the time and it was easily testable.)

I tagged this topic "test," and it appeared in the "test" forum... but when I crowded out the "test" tag from the top five (not removing it entirely, just crowding it out from the top five), this topic disappeared from the "test" forum.

(As in, it's been figured out.)

@sozobe,
Gotcha, yeah I explained there why that happens too.
