Do Shoes Have Soles?

@Reyn,
A man I worked with up to about twelve years ago wore holes in his soles. He had cowboy boots. Because he could not afford to buy a new pair, that matched his self image, he tried every trick he could think of to keep those things on his feet. The point is, he could have had his feet covered for around twenty bucks, but for want of a couple hundred, he went ragged.

@edgarblythe,
So his sole was more holey because he wasn't well-heeled?

@DrewDad,
I showed him a Mason Shoes catalog. Those people will sell a pair to anybody, at low monthly premiums and you get the shoes before making a single payment. Their boots are leather and they look great. But the guy ignored me and continued that way for another three or four months.

What happens if you shoes, by your own freewill, to go barefoot?

@edgarblythe,
I had a particularly aggressive fly repeatedly trying to get at my Pepsi today. He evaded every attempt at my swatting him dead. Quick little bugger. If I could have shoed (shod) that fly, he would have been much less agile and I would certainly have been able to nail him.

A good swat with a flip-flop would have subdued it.

@edgarblythe,
Are flip-flops really shoes though? Footwear, but not really shoes, per se. Wink

@Reyn,
Perhaps they are shoes that have passed away, since they are practically all sole.
