my central air doesn't blow out cold air, there is a loud squealing sound coming from the unit outside. I had the same problem last year but wasn't told exactly what the problem was. My landlord hasn't gotten back to me. What could be the problem?

It could be the fan motor only works sporadically, causing the compressor to overheat. That would be the motor squealing, likely.
